Hi Danil. I was working in a job for a few years and then I went back to being a student. It is quite different being a student but I really like it. It means that I do not have standard working hours. So if I’m having a bad day then I can leave early.
Unfortunately there is only me doing my work so I can’t be too lazy or it won’t get done! If I leave early on one day then I have to work late on another one to finish what I’m doing.
I think you have to be quite interested in what you are studying to be a good student.
I have just finished being a PhD student (I submitted my thesis last month and have my viva in 3 weeks time :-s). I loved the experience but it was hard work. The best bit is the flexible working time, like John has mentioned and sharing an office with lots of other PhD students who I became really good friends with.
The work is hard though and complicated and takes a lot of self-discipline to finish and write everything up, especially if you end up working full-time at the same time like I did!
Being a PhD student was one of the best experiences of my life!
Doing cutting edge science, seeing things that no one else has seen, travelling the world to meet and talk with great minds, visiting institutions in America, Canada, Copenhagen, Norway, Russia.
Being chased out of X red army head quarters in Tbilisi Georgia by armed guards.
Honestly
Great Days !!
