      I love the variety!

I spend time doing really cool experiments in the lab, but then I also get to go on boats to collect samples, talk to young people (like you!) about my work, and best of all I can go to conferences and workshops around the world.

I get bored quite quickly, so it’s really nice to have a job where I know there’s a different task coming soon… it means I’m always excited about something!

      Hi James2000 and khya536!

My favourite thing is working through statistical puzzles (sounds really geeky, I know!) and getting interesting results from my data, especially finding out things that we didn’t know about before! That is really exciting!

I also like talking to charities and other organisations (such as government departments) about my work and why our findings are important for them. Also I like to travel a lot and I get to do this in my job by giving presentations of my work to other scientists at conferences. This year I am going to Norway, Budapest, London and Porto (Portugal). You go to the conference but there is also time for sightseeing and social things!

Hi everyone that asked this question!

I think the best part of my job is learning new stuff. There is always something out there that you don’t know about.

I also get a real buzz out of being able to demonstrate things actually working in practice!
